So this one hit different. It's the story of Anupama — she's got the whole "fairytale life" thing going, married to a doctor, everything looking perfect from the outside. And then one day she notices a small white patch on her skin. Turns out it's leukoderma. And just like that, everything she thought was solid starts falling apart.

Instead of standing by her, her husband pulls away. Her in-laws basically make her feel like she's contaminated. She ends up back at her father's house, but even there she's not safe from judgment — because apparently being a married woman living separately is its own kind of scandal, on top of everyone side-eyeing her skin.

It gets dark. Like, she genuinely reaches a breaking point. But instead of staying stuck there, she picks herself up and moves to Bombay to start completely over. And that's really what the book is about — not some dramatic revenge arc, just her slowly, quietly earning her life and her self-respect back on her own terms.
